power and streetability

There are plenty of head/ cam combos out there that can take you up to 450-460rwhp without losing drivability. Drivability is all in cam selection, gear, and a good TUNE.
Generally,
cam/stock heads; 360-430rwhp (depending on cam -see list below-)
heads/cam; 400-450rwhp
max effort heads/cam, streetable; 450-480 (sometimes 500)rwhp.
All above numbers reduce substantially on an A4 (auto tranny).
Anymore than that, seek larger displacement (402/408 shortblock swaps are popular), forced induction, or nitrous.
Cam size (subjectively) on stock displacement, durationwise,
200-220 Small
220-230 Medium
230-240 Large
240 XL
The trick over the past few years has been to get the L and XL cams to provide drivability (liveable idle manners, low end tq, etc). Cam design and tuning is allowing it to happen.
