i think something is wrong(long)
i think something is wrong(long) a little backround on the car. 98 a-4 z-28,99xxx miles.i just had a cam,springs,tr ported oil pump,and ls2 timing chain installed by a very reputable shop.when i had the stock oil pump hot idle pressure was 20 to 25 and would shoot to 50 or 60 at wot.when i went to get the car they said they replaced the o ring on the pick up tube twice because the preesure seemed low.with the new pump it was 30 hot 50 wot(this is in 30 deg outside temp).today was the first day with a decent temp(55 deg)and at hot idle it was barely 20 psi.at wot it never got to 40 psi. when i picked up the car from the cam swap they said the pump was high volume not high pressure and that the motor was getting loose(tired)and that is why the pressure is a little low. i understand about the motor being a little loose and 20 psi dosen't bother me as much as 40psi at wot.i've been using mobil 1 5w30,should i switch to 15w40,shim the spring in the pump,or pray it stays together with 40 psi @6700.any thoughts or advice would be great.sorry so long.thanks
