Default Titanium Retainers?

I am going to run a Thunder 224/224 .563/.563 112 cam in a 99vette m6 and with 918 springs and was wondering if I should get the titanium retainers or just use the stock ones.

I always think they are worth it, buys a couple of hundred RPM and less chance of float.

I'm with Nuts on this one. To add to Nuts' comments, removing mass from the valve side of the train will help keep the valve train stable and increase power.

I'd say if you can afford it go with the TI's but if its a stretch and you aren't going to play in the 6000+ RPM range don't worry about it. I reused the stock retainers on mine. I'm never above 6200 and that cam kind of runs out of juice around 6500 anyway.

your cam ( and my cam ) TR224 dies off in HP and TQ before the valve float range. save your money. You shouldnt have your RPM range bumped up because the TR224 will not carry the power in the upper 6000 RPMs. to move the rev limiter up in a cam that size will only damage your motor in the long run.

I didnt install the TIs when I installed the cam. My AFRs come with TIs, but for that cam, I think it's a little over kill.

Im thinking about switching cams out when I have the heads done and the TIs that come with the AFRs will come in handy
