Default need help with combo

i dont have my ls1 yet, but should be getting one soooon. i was wondering what heads and cam i should go with. it will not be my daily driver so it can be a bit on the radical side. its mainly gonna be street car but i will take it to the drag strip a few times and i will be road racing with it. so i guess i need a cam that will go with drag and road race. im not affraid to go with a big cacm or big heads cause i wont be sriving it everyday. i want lots of power with the stock 346 cubes. thanks. Jesse

Get all your bolt ons in place. I just had a Cam Motion cam specified for me for Street/Strip & Roadrace application. It's 226/228 .574/.576 112 +4 (it's not too radical by any means, but will provide great usable power without killing your valvetrain for sustained RPM). I think it would work well with either a set of TEA Stage 1 5.7L heads, or a set of LS2/LS6 CNC'd heads from either Patriot or Texas Speed or Livernois.
AFR 205's would also be ideal heads for RR'ing due to velocity.

Define what you mean by lots of power, and we can help you out some more.

i would like 450-500 horse at the wheels. i need the cam to work with both drag and road race. unless i have to pick one or the other. it will be a six speed with a 12 bolt rear with prolly 4.10's. thanks. Jesse

That's max effort ls1, stock 346ci zone.

ET Performance 225 heads, Thunder Racing TRaK cam. Comp 921 springs. Get the best performing bolt-ons you can get. FAST90/90 intake combo will be necessary.

My old setup was also in that zone.

Patrick has used it for RR. It's ground on Comp LSK lobes on the intake which come off the seat less aggressive than XER lobes, then suprasses them after .050. The exhaust is XER type lobe.
Proper valvetrain setup, spring height and lifter preload is crucial.
Very driveable.
