Question deck height ?

Hey guys,

What's the deck clearance (distance from top of piston to block deck) on a stock LS1? Negative right (piston in hole)?

Thanks

On a factory LS1 the piston is out of the hole. A negative number means the piston is above the deck and positive means it is below the deck.

Approx .000"-.002" based on the following specs:

67.3 cc Combustion Chamber
0.00 cc Piston top volume
3.9" Bore x 3.62" Stroke
.052" Compressed gasket

Oh, they are positive... Gunnar do you know how much?

I guess I just need wrist pin CL to piston top distance. I have all the other numbers.

There not all going to be the same. They average about .005"-.010" out. Most just say .007 if trying to find compression and so forth. It's as close as you'll get without actually measuring.

Gotcha. I guess I'll go with the 040 gaskets instead of the 030 then.

OK, part 2... does anyone make a 040 graphite head gasket with 3.9 bore?

Nope. The only people that make a broad selection for the LS1 is Cometic and they are MLS.
