To rebuild or not to rebuild Im putting on new heads cam and lt's. Ive got the motor stripped down. Question is should I rebuild it? I havent had any problems with it. It doesnt burn any oil. Its got 110,000 miles.
What do the cam bearings look like ?? If you have the money I say get your self a forged short block from one of the sponsors. If not I would at least get your self new lifters/trays, oil pump, and timeing chain for this swap.
That many miles I would at least go for a forged short block, its only a matter of time. Why take a chance of something going wrong, might even damage your heads, cam and valve train........ and then what do you have.
I think you playing with fire... spend a little more now and enjoy it not having to worry about something letting loose. And you be set for another 110K.

I would at the very least go through and check all the bearings. I would think new bearings (rods, mains), check journal wear, replace oil pump and timing chain. I know it is some extra work, but if it's out already then it is the perfect time to go through it. Maybe put in some arp rod bolts while your at it. If it were me I would buy forged eagle rods and pistons and redo it all if I had the money to do so. That would require balancing and block machine work plus I would add studs son the price does go way up.
