I was installing my arp head studs into my 98 block. The 20 large studs just spun in by hand with a little lube. the 10 small (although I only tried the first few) were very tight, I couldn't spin them in by hand. Nor did I have the right size allen, so they're not installed as of yet. Anyone have any input on this?

You must be talking about the holes were cleaned out.

 

Did you try one of the old bolts to see if it spins in easily? May be the threads are cut a little tight. Also, are the ARP studs a rolled thread or cut? I am curious too as I plan on using studs on mine this spring.

 

Take one of the old bolts, saw a cut through the middle of one, to make a thread chaser. Remove any burrs before inserting in the block. Mine went in fairly easy.
