Default 6 bent pushrods!

Allright guys need some help here, couple months ago I was getting on it and went from full throttle 5500 rpm 3rd and accidentally jammed it into 2nd (long story), car shut down on me right there. Started back up after 3 or 4 tries and ran and sounded fine so I thought ok I got really lucky. NOPE, got on it a couple of weeks ago and it had NO power around 5000 rpm's then I get to my buddy's house and its ticking like crazy. So I take it to my mechanic and it has 6 f*cking bent pushrods. My question is do you think the trans and/or rearend could be screwed too? Also should I keep it and pay for the problems or should I sell this thing? Thanks

i bent/snapped 15 out of 16 pushrods pegging the rev limiter on spray and my tranny and rear were fine.Just upgrade to hardened/chromoly pushrods and since you revved so high your springs are probably damaged now too so swap them out with some nice double springs and youll be set to go.

not to big of a deal just get that car away from the mechanic and replace the springs and rods your self for about 300 bucks....then you will also have a much better piece of mind with dual springs and hardened rods...

This is Blue99SS, I'm posting from my buddy's computer, just thought I would give an update. Car is fixed as of right now. My mechanic had the word to fix it (daily driver). Got 6 new GM pushrods and it seems to run good so far but I haven't really HIT IT yet. The worst bend in the pushrod is about 30 degrees and the other 5 aren't all that bad. My mechanic ran a diagnostics check and the valve's are OK so everything seems fine as of now. The springs seem to be fine as well. My family has known our mechanic for 30 plus years so I trust him and in the near future I plan on taking over the LS6 from my friends Z06 (ovaltobowtie) so I really didn,t want to make too many upgrades. Thanks for your help.

I diddnt hear tapping either lol. Its too easy to just yank teh valvecovers and check them out to not do it.

Happens to the best of us! Try to turn your hand on the shifter so that your thumb sortof points down with your palm on the left side of the shifter. This will help you stay out of 2nd gear and make sure you nail 4th.

I pulled out a pushrod bent so badly it actually oval'd the pushrod hole in the head by about 1/4"!

BTW - You should NEVER run hardened pushrods on stock valvesprings. The next time you do the dreaded misshift, it will be your valves that bend instead of the pushrods.

I would say check that thing out, I didn't hear tapping in there until a couple months later. I got really lucky that there wasn't more damage driving the car around like that. Check that thing out just to be safe.
