I am just wanting a baby cam for a ls1 that sounds really good and just takes changing to some 918 springs and i dont want a ls6 cam.. thank you for your help

i have an automatic so i will need a stall before i get a can

 

dont have to but it would be better if you had a stall. you will really be able to tell a lot more about the cam and car will feel a lot faster and be faster

 

You will have a hard time finding a baby sized cam that lopes much. Lope comes from having more overlap, which is from larger durations and lower LSA's. To a lesser extent slower ramp rates give more lope.

 

get some 921 springs,patriont golds or prc's and I'll sell you my g5x3 cam on 114 for $300.......this cam sounds pretty good

 

you want a lopey baby cam? get the Hotcam. My advice is with what goober said though. Go stall first. It will be your best mod over heads or cam. You need it to put your power that you are getting to the ground.

ok thanks i guess i will do that first then but then what do you all prefer for a good cam not very big cause all i will have is the stall headers and full exhaust

 

You can have a big cam with those 3. that is your main support. 224-230 range would be fine. You planning on an intake?

 

the stall in my sig was probably the best mod as far as times go. i picked up 5 tenths on sh*tty nitto's.as far as cams go ,go big the first time. i have the tr230 and already want more

 

Look into the Comp 216/220. Great drivability, can hear some lope, and has a very broad powerband. I have this cam. Very pleased with it. Oh yea, and you wont be needing to change springs every 25k. just a thought.

 

I have that cam also and really like it. It lopes through the cutout, or can be disguised pretty well through the magnaflow. If you want a small cam that sounds good, then the hotcam would probably fit. The hotcam sounds really good for a small cam. The lope of the hotcam is much more audible than the 216/220. With either the hotcam or 216/220, spring changes will be few and far between.

 

Does the Comp 216/220 have mild ramp rates similar to the Hot Cam? Also, at what duration/lift does the Comp start getting into what's termed as "aggressive" spring eating ramps?

The 216/220 has "lazy" lobes like the hotcam, and is part of the reason I chose it. You probably won't have to swap springs as long as your engine lasts.
