I would think that the ls6 heads would flow better, but you'll be at high compression. I'm building an engine right now so this is where Ive been spending alot of my time http://www.diamondracing.net/cocalc.htm

Either head even if ported will still be restrictive on a big 427, IMO. I am planning on using GM LS7 or Warhawk LS7X heads on my 427.

I thought the 6.0 Liter heads had LS6 ports, but bigger chambers. I guess I thought they would have flowed similarly when ported out.

The 6.0L's can get er done. These are my TEA's set up for 4.125.

lift intake exhaust
.100 70.2 59.3
.200 143.4 128.7
.300 216.8 188.7
.400 270.0 232.1
.500 311.9 257.2
.550 330.0 264.0
.600 343.8 268.0

Wish the chart had gone up to .650, would probably have seen 350cfm

That's a correct assumption. After porting, the heads flow almost identical. Most porters, espeacailly CNCers, run the same program wether it's 6.0 or LS6. I would let the compression needed be my determing factor.

so to clear things up if they are going to CNC the final outcome will be the same if the LQ9 are milled. I have the LUNATI rotating assem for a LS6 so pistons are rev. dome.
