engine build question about rods
build looks like this 408 iron block, eagle 4", diamond pistons heres the question, does it make sense to upgrade to lunati pro mod rods over callie compstars for 400 more? the lunatis come with upgraded bolts, what do the callies come with? engine will run a 100minimum-250max shot pro'lly rev limit around 6800- 7k.

I have a buddy running a forged 408 with a 4" Eagle crank, 6.100" Eagle Rods, and Diamond Pistons. He has sprayed 200 on it and is going to up it to 250 and then 300 when he puts Direct Port on it.
I am building a 383 with Diamond Pistons, Eagle 6.125" rods and most likely going with Eagle 4" crank. I will be spraying from time to time as well....but probably won't go too big (200+) until I get a 12 bolt or 9" under the rear.

Right now I'm running Eagle 6.125" rods with L19 rod bolts in my 348cid. and crank over 7500 rpm all the time on the street and strip for over two years now with no problems at all and I have 250 shot pro fogger N.O.S., I'm building a 418cid.aluminum LS2 right now with a Eagle crank 4.100" and Eagle rods 6.125" L19 rod bolts,ROSS pistons 4.030" bore ,Don't for get to get the performance grade rod and main bearings like Clevite or some thing

The Lunati Pro-billets are about $400 more than a Compstar, but not the Pro-mods. The Pro mods are roughly the same price, maybe a touch more than the Compstar. Unless your building a 1000+ rwhp car, I wouldn't worry about the pro-billets. The Compstars will take you a long way.
