Default engine build question about rods

build looks like this 408 iron block, eagle 4", diamond pistons heres the question, does it make sense to upgrade to lunati pro mod rods over callie compstars for 400 more? the lunatis come with upgraded bolts, what do the callies come with? engine will run a 100minimum-250max shot pro'lly rev limit around 6800- 7k.

I have a buddy running a forged 408 with a 4" Eagle crank, 6.100" Eagle Rods, and Diamond Pistons. He has sprayed 200 on it and is going to up it to 250 and then 300 when he puts Direct Port on it.

I am building a 383 with Diamond Pistons, Eagle 6.125" rods and most likely going with Eagle 4" crank. I will be spraying from time to time as well....but probably won't go too big (200+) until I get a 12 bolt or 9" under the rear.

The Lunati Pro-billets are about $400 more than a Compstar, but not the Pro-mods. The Pro mods are roughly the same price, maybe a touch more than the Compstar. Unless your building a 1000+ rwhp car, I wouldn't worry about the pro-billets. The Compstars will take you a long way.

Pro Mod are around the same price. I would rate the 2 as very similar. I use Compstar rods in many high horsepower budget builds. The Compstars come std. with ARP 2000 bolts. You can always upgrade to something like the pro billet rod if it is in your budget and you want the piece of mind

from what I've seen people use the compstars more often than not. Wasnt sure if the pro mods are that much better to justify the $400 more over the compstars, which are the same price as the scat as well. The pro billets (lunati) would be an $800 upgrade that I dont think I need, but wanted to be sure of the compstar rods, or i'd throw the extra $400 for safety.
