You'll need a tune. I dropped a TR224 112 in my car and although it runs, it does stall at lights sometimes and runs rich (which will kill the 02's and the cats quickly).

Bottom line you need a tune to fully take advantage of your mods. Without it you're leaving HP on the table and CAN do damage to your car.

Car is in storage right now due to winter but a tune is set for March.

Did you get a tune from a shop or just with some one with HP Tuner or LS1 Edit?

If from shop, care to share which shop it is? I'd like to get a tune sometime next month.

Go with the mail order tune. Most shops give you "like" a mail order tune anyway, and a dyno pull just to show how much HP your making.

If they dont give you several dyno readings, then they gave you the average tune that will make your car run really good. A true dyno tune , you will be on the dyno for several hours adding this and subtracting that to make your car perfect.

if you go to a shop and they give you one dyno pull reading, you probly got something close to a mail order tune unless your standing there at the dyno machine with them

Most of the shops have installed a ton of combos and keep a good book of tunes. They install your parts and cross reference your tune, then upload it. Your car will perform really nice. Half the proof will be how your car performs under 1700 RPMS and above 5000 RPMS.

OK when you guys refer to tuning, Can those pocket programmers correct a good enough tune for a cam swap and such? Or is it really needed to spend the 400-600 for a dyno and tune. I was jw cause I never really got the hypertech tunners etc if every gets their car tuned somewhere else.

No the pocket tunes will not help you with heads and/or cam package.

I gained about 30 HP with my Predator tune over stock, with the bolt-ons in my sig. Plus I can make all the adjustments I need now, like when I installed 4.10 gears. You can modify PE, and record performance, but you then have to send numbers to DiabloSport to get an adjusted tuned sent to you. With a proper tuning set up: Dyno + LS1 Edit, you can see all the F/A, make changes between Closed Loop/Open Loop, and a lot more in fairly real time. So you can really nail the tune.

Bottom line is that for a proper tune, you need more than a hand-held tuner, unless you have some sort of special gift... BUT, from my experience, it is well worth getting a DiabloSport Predator (I got mine from SLP) if you have a stock set up and want to tweak a lot more power out of it. Just look at the dyno results below.

Dont get a mail order tune, waste of money. And you will be fine if you drive a few weeks, thats a tiny cam and it should idle if you raise the idle with the screw on the TB.

Dont even waste your time putting a cam in if you dont plan on getting it tuned for it.
