Swapped my Torquer 2 for GT2-3...
For the record I bought his Torquer V.2 and can't wait to play with it.
I learned my tuning lesson back with my turbo 240sx. Spent a week straight tuning that thing, had my own wideband and tuning software. Got it pretty much perfect, but it was SO frustrating, so I will just let the professionals handle the Torquer tune.

You are running rich at idle. That's yet another thing that you just have to live with with a cam with lots of overlap. The overlap lets lots of unburned oxygen through the exhaust, which the O2's see and interpret as a lean condition, so they dump in more fuel. The only way around that is to run an open loop tune so the O2's don't jigger things. However, white smoke is not a sign of running rich. If you had any smoke at all as a result of running rich it would be dark grey or black, and you would have to be running super rich at idle for black smoke to be seen. White smoke means you're either burning coolant or oil. If you're burning oil the smoke will have more of a bluish tint to it.
I wouldn't say that you're a crappy tuner. I would say that you don't have the knowledge or experience to adequately tune, and were unwilling to spend the time to gain that knowledge and experience.
Obviously you found that tuning just wasn't for you
I want to close this by again stating that this is not a flame directed towards you or your tuning abilities
It needs to be made abundantly clear that these are your problems, and not cam problems, so that those people who are seeking accurate information are not lead astray by misleading "facts".
2. Big lope is another characteristic of the cam. It can't be tuned out, only masked, by raising the idle and adding spark at idle. That lead to MY problem with exhaust volume. I didn't blame the cam for my exhaust.
3. Bucking/surging. You're right, this is an issue with my tuning ability and not the cam itself.
4. Idle hunting. Again, a better tuner can nearly eliminate this.
I've been hanging around the PCM section long enough to know that big cam self-tuners have been hard at work for months, sometimes a year, trying to get their cars driving like stock. More power to 'em. I'm just trying to let the beginner tuner know how it is.
Thanks for comments, I'll update when I get some drive time with the LPE cam.
I have a 4000 lb car with the GT2-3 and now GMPP LS6 heads. Car drives fine, pulls fine, is perfect for what I wanted. Haven't been to the track since I put the heads and ported TB on but it should be pretty low 12's. Gets great gas mileage too boot!
Hey Matt you'd better hurry up and get that thing out on the road, mine should be all done early this week and if the weather is good maybe we can do some breakin in crusing together.
