You need the VIN # off the donor. They do a full inspection, all your emissions stuff like the evap on the gas tank, etc. is carried over from the donor car. Then they tailpipe it.

After that you can do away with the stuff and do your H/C, but you will have a sticker saying 2000 Camaro. Depending on who you go after that for your bi-annual, you may or may not get pegged for EGR. EGR is the first and most obvious thing checked for.

NEWS FLASH!!!!!!

I just called Thunder racing and talke to David there. I told him my situation and he said i will be fine with the 224 cam if i use the 2000+ manifold just wont be making power as the LT's would. But he said that i will pass smog and that i should get 3:73 or 4:10 in the rear and also get a 2800-3200 stall. Later down the road i could add the LT's and find a cool smog shop. I feel much better now.

There's 2 things to passing CA smog. The tailpipe and the CARB-EO #. The 224 cam does not have a CARB-EO #. The ref can call you on that. Whether or not they will, I don't know. All I know is, if I were the ref, I'd know it's not stock just from listening to it. They also can check casting numbers of your heads and block, but whether or not they will is up to the referee on the day you go.

But, do let me know how it goes with the inspection and the cam.

Dang bro you got me on that. If he were to ask about the engine i would of told him that i didnt do anything to it. I think he would just see if all the smog stuff is there and just look in the computer and give it a smog test. The ref wouldnt go that deep just to check my head #. I would just play stupid. This is a big chance that i might just have to take on that. But for sure ill let you know more info on the swap and ref.

Do you think i should just drop in the motor stock then after the ref crap pull the motor out and begin with the performace mods?? I would already be a pro at pulling motors after i get done with this swap. Just unplug wires and pull. I make sound so easy huh? LOL

Hmm, just do the H/C. The worst is he'd send you home to come back later to get certified. Tell him you bought it that way, and assumed it was stock. That might be a plan. Worst is they won't give you the sticker, come back later with the stock stuff and you should be good to go. Make them earn their pay.
