Question Another Cam Thread--Again...

First off let me say I've searched--a lot--and I can't find what I'm looking for...

Supporting mods: lid, fast 90 intake, nick williams throttle body, underdrive pulley, nasty modded stock rockers, 1 3/4" longtube headers, ORY, catback, rear gear matched to the cam, etc.

In the future, I also plan on getting ported ls6 heads with larger valves, and milled some for more compression.

This is on the stock bottom end and Naturally Aspirated.

What I want to know is: Which cam will provide the quickest 1/4 mile E.T.'s being shifted AT or BY 6500 RPM? I don't want 7000 RPM screamers like the Trex, G5X4, etc.

I could care less about dyno numbers also. I just want it to accelerate as quick as possible in a straight line with the 6500 RPM shift limit.

Needless to say, it's gonna have to make some pretty decent low and midrange torque. Also, my question refers to Off the Shelf cams, so please don't say go Custom. I'm considering going custom anyway, I just want opinions about OTS cams.

F11, F13, G5X2, G5X3? Or something smaller like the proven C1 Hammer Cam? Or something else?

Any advice is appreciated.

Judging by your requirements, 6500 rpms and decent low/midrange, something in the f13-f14, G5X2 range will work for you. No matter what you choose you'll want it 4 degrees advanced (usually ground into the cam) for better torque production. Honestly though call a sponsor and tell them everything you posted here and they'll steer you in the right direction.

Thanks for the input.

I've sort of been leaning towards the G5X2 lately, but I'm welcoming everyone's opinions. Especially those who have more experience than myself.

My biggest concern with the G5X2 would be P to V clearance when used with Milled LS6 heads. I don't know exactly how far they could safely be millled, and to what compression without smacking pistons off of valves?

Also, I don't remember if the G5X2 likes to be shifted in the range I want, or higher? That would help make the decision. I do remember that Louis'(LGM's) cams put out good numbers, both at the track and the dyno.

I remember reading a lot of good stuff in the past on all these cams when I did searches, but now the search function seems to not give near as many results. Like it deleted the old archives or something?

Keep the advice coming guys!
