Head Bolt Hole Thread Cleaner? Tap/Chase?
M11 x 2.0 is the head bolt thread spec.
Looks like the only actual chaser i could find is made by ARP and costs $50.
Wanted to just buy a tap/chaser and do it 100% the right way, but i dont feel like paying $50 for somethin i may only use once.
As far as cutting an old head bolt, i would imagine you have to clean up the edges of the threads after they get milled with a small hand file so a jagged edge dosent destroy the tapped hole in the block. is this correct?
Thanks

I personally would only use the ARP one because it is specifically designed for the LS1 hole. The threads of the block are "rolled". If you use a normal tap, you will cut the roll off of the threads causing them to become weak and not be able to provide the proper holding force. The bolt will only "semi" clean the holes. They won't remove all the debris. Buy the ARP and then sell it when your through.
