Question Forged LS1 or LS6?

Need to get a forged setup. I want the absolute minimum headache in this swap. This is for a 1998 M6. What issues will need to be addressed if I go for an LS6 block instead of sticking with the LS1? Or is there absolutely no difference in how these blocks will fit/communicate with the '98?

Thanks for any info,

Rich

Should have no problems using LS6 engine in your car. I have a 98z i put a 04 Z06 engine in mines couldnt be any happier. Everything should bolt up fine.

if your changing internals, what difference does the block make?

Didn't know if all fitment is the same: oil pump, sensors, connection to the PCM etc... and I have a PTK kit that needs to fit EXACTLY as it does on the LS1.

98z28, thanks for the info. I'm always expecting the stupid '98 computer to have problems that none of the other years have.

From what I have heard/read, the LS6 block has slightly better oiling and cooling passages, but is not quite as strong as the LS1 block. Unless you're shooting for massive power, it shouldn't matter either way.
