Default Factory HP Ratings

Couldn't get to info on a search, so thought I'd ask.
What were the factory HP ratings for '00, '01 and '02 LS1's? I've read everything from 305 to 345, but can't quite get to any real numbers. If there's a link to this info, that would also be appreciated.

Thanks,
Andy1

For Camaros (Firebird similar)

2000:
Z28 = 305 bhp
SS = 320 bhp (GM, No SLP Options), 330 bhp (SLP Exhaust)

2001:
Z28 = 310 bhp
SS = 325 bhp (GM, No SLP Options), 335 bhp (SLP Exhaust), 345 bhp (late 2001 only, SLP Exhaust and Blackwing Lid)

2002:
Z28 = 310 bhp
SS = 325 bhp (GM, No SLP Options), 335 bhp (SLP Exhaust), 345 bhp (SLP Exhaust and Blackwing Lid)

Actual dyno yes, but he is asking for GM Advertised HP ratings. Those will not vary, as they are only advertised numbers.

I didn't realize there was a more powerfull SS version (sorry, not a Camaro geek). By SLP, do you mean this was a GM/Camaro option? Also, with the Firebird; is the WS6 a more powerful version as well similar to the Z28 vs SS? It seems odd to me that a 5.3L truck motor only makes 10-15HP less than the 5.7L Z28.

Thank guys,

Andy1

It seems odd because it is total BS. You can throw all the "published" HP numbers out the window when it comes to LS1s in the F-body.

The WS6 had the same HP rating as the Z28. The SLP versions were a joint venture with GM to produce the Camaro SS (1996-2002) and the Firehawk (1991-2002). These were option packages that could be ordered direct from GM dealers. The SLP optioned SS/Firehawks with SLP exhaust (Dual/Dual or CME) and/or (blackwing) lids did produce more power then their "base" counterparts. On a dyno, those advertise numbers may not mean much, but that is what they were wether people like to admit it or not. Once modified, this info is out the window, but for historical purposes it is correct.

Flame.......,

Thanks for clearing this up for me. So basically, the differences are "bolt-on's." No internal differences.

Short of starting a new thread (or going over to the Conversions group), It's interesting that the garden variety LS1 is rated so low. I'm trying to decide on a motor for my conversion, and it's difficult to justify spending 2 1/2 times more for an LS1 vs the truck motor (which is cheap, available everywhere, lot's to choose from, decent HP). They weight 63lbs more, which is rather insignificant. On either one, I would look to do long tubes and a mild cam to warm them up a bit. Don't want to start a truck vs car war, but this same post would get the truck list all lathered-up too

The advertised horsepower rating were not the real horsepower ratings. They actually put out more power than GM and SLP said they put out.

All of the SS cars were made by SLP. They got a hood scoop, a better exhaust system, and a better flowing air box.
