Default ls2 cam gear

I just changed my timing set on a 2001 ws6 and would like to know if is o.k. to run the ls2 cam gear on the ls1? I ran a search on this an noticed everyone is running the chain but not the sprockets.

All I know is what you just said. I would just run the chain.

You can use it if you want, but there is no real need to use it on a LS1 car. It's designed to supply the signal for the LS2 cam sensor which is located on the front timing cover.

I'll probably change back to my old gear. I guess its ok to run the ls2 since their the same dimension, as for as the gear is concerned it just seems weird running an old one with a new chain. Thanks for your help.

the gear will support anything you can throw at it. chain will break beofre gear gives up.
