Default Head stud question

On an Fbody can the heads be installed and removed in the engine bay if head studs are being used?

Thanks

John

Yes they can. I swaped on a set of heads in december, and used ARP head studs.. no problem. Just have to be careful not to drag the heads on the studs when go to set them on the motor. The heater box on the passengers side may however need a slight hole drilled/punched in it to get to the bolt with the TQ wrench.. I had to make a hole in mine to get to it. It's only a cover for the heater stuff, and did not effect anything as far as the heat/ac working, and it's next to impossible to even see, so it's nothing to really concern yourself with. Just have a 90deg. drill and a 1.5 inch hole saw and you can do it and it will look o.k., just remove the bit from the center so you don't drill into anything inside there.

Personally, I used the hammer and punched a hole, but the hole saw would look cleaner I think.
