Default ARP Head Studs....height above block??

Anybody got a short block going together with ARP head studs, I need some help.

What I need is the dimension from the block surface to the top of the stud.

I am trying to determine if I can get the heads off while the block is in my GTO. Don't want to have to lower the K frame to service head when that becomes as issue.

I took the old OEM bolts and cut the heads off , slotted the top and have them screwed into the block with about .668 sticking out of the head bolt holes. at this dimension the head is hitting on the brake booster as I feared and its impossible to get the head on.

I called ARP about the height out of the head hole, but they were just winging it, so if someone actually has a shortblock without the heads on yet, it would be much appreciated to get the dimensions.....

Thanks

I presume then that you have either pulled or installed the heads, with the ARP head studs installed??

I don't have a GTO, but if it fits it sounds close. I would put a small rubber tip on the studs when you install the head so you don't accidentally scratch the gasket surface.

Hi recently did a 408 on my Holden Commodore which is the same set up as the GTO, there will be no problems geeting heads on and off with ARP studs in. cheers.
