Default Lifter Install Question

I am in the middle of my H/C swap. I have my ARP Studs in and everything is clean and ready to begin putting the thing back together.
I noticed on the lifters there is a hole on one of the sides. Fitting the lifters into the retainer this hole can either be towards the top of the motor or toward the bottom. Taking it apart there did not seem to be any pattern, did I miss something or it doesn’t matter which way they go in?

Dosnt matter which way they go in. The oil gallery channel surrounds all 360 degrees of the bore, so it'll get fed no matter which way it points. Like th eold flat tappet lifters tha t would rotate around as the cam hit them.
