Have A Quick ? About Oil Temp. I'm ordering a oil temp. gauge & need to know what temp range is needed for our cars. One gause goes up to 300* & the other is higher. I just wasn't sure what temp our oil runs.
180 degrees is minimum before you flog on an engine, 210 to 220 is optimum temp. 230 to 240 is the max oil temp you want to run. Over 240 the engine will still operate but this will cause bearing fatigue and shorten the engines life.

Where would the best place to pick up the temp of the oil? I have an oil cooler on the car, so I have a few unused ports on the adapter? Or should I have a bung welded into the oil pan?
