Default Those with F14 come in

Well been searching for a while for a cam and i think i've finaly decided on the f14. Going to give futral a call this week and see what they got to say but what wanted to get a feel of what you guys with them have to say about it. How high does this thing pull to, hows the power in the lower rpms, etc. From the graphs i've seen this cam really makes the power under the curve compared to the other bigger cams.

Thanks a lot
Justin

My car didn't really start to move until around 2500k, but pulled hard all the way to 6800k. Cam is great, happy I went with it. A very good choice.

sounds great, thats what i'm looking for, i'm going to be installing 4.10 gears and since i've got a 3rd gen camaro with a ls1 in it i only weigh 3200. So i dont need as much torque to get moving. 6600-6800 was what i wanted to be shifting at.

You will not regret your purchase...It seems I'm one of the lucky many that have had problems with lifter failure with my futral cam....I'd go ahead and replace the lifters while you're in there just for the peace of mind. I only have 6000 miles on the cam.....

This cam is an all around great performer as long as you have gears to compliment it. With the 3.42s it was rather sluggish off the line but after the 4.10s there was a world of difference.

Go for it but I'd seriously consider swapping in a new set of lifters and lifter trays.

Just my $.02

ive got a custom grind very close to an f14 and love it.
you are wrong about torque, you want lots of it! hehe.
i shift about 6800 at the track for best mph. 66-6700 for best et.
only a few hundreths difference, but shifting does make the difference.
ive got 3200 miles on this cam (around 11K on stock cam) and it makes hella noises.

thanks a lot for the input, i'll take a look into lifters. Yea torque is great but i dont want so much that i can't get any traction on the street. I was just saying that since i was lighter that i dont need as much has you heavier guys.

high end HP spins the tires as well. its a tough balance.
i ran on stock manifolds for almost a year, and it would dead hook from a stop, and never think about spinning. now with long tubes, it wants to haze the tires a bit around 5K in 1st. kinda like a clutch slipping, but ive got an auto. i can tell they are spinning a touch.

alright well hopefully with the suspension mods(lca,tq. arm, sbf,stb,qa1 coil overs rear, koni red front, panhard) i'll be able to hook(some what) on the street. I"m basicly looking for a car that will be a blast on the street from a 3k rpm punch and will pull hard, and will perform well at the track.

you'll have fun with the F14. I'm A4 w/4.10s and this cam pulls pretty good. On completely stock suspension parts, i was cutting 2.4 60fts running 12.7@116. It pulls hard after 3k. But having 4.10s with a stall helps out. Yea, you cant go wrong, plus the under the curve power is good.

I talked to texas-speed and FMS today. Jason @ TSP told me to go with the magic stick, said with my weight this car would work great, and the guys at FMS told me that either the f14 or f13 just depending on how i high i want to rev. What you guys think i'm really likeing the f14 but the ms3 also sounds like a mean cam.

I have been researching cams for a long time now. I have been settled on the F14 for a good bit, I just think it's the perfect cam for good power without sacrificing as much as some of the "other" cams do. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I'd still go with the FM14. It has great driviability after it was tuned. Drives stock.

I have the F14 in my Z06 and was daily driving the car. The cam sounds really mean when it lopes. People really stare when the car is cold started. The car drives like stock just pulls really hard on top. The cam can still be lugged around at 1k rpms in six gear and not surge. I made 423 rwhp and 408 rwtq with the cam, headers, pulley, ported tb and a FMS dynotune.

got two questions for you guys running the f14.

1. how does it feel below 2500, with 4.10 does it feel like you lost/gain any power.

2. How high does this thing keep pulling, i'm reading about 6800 but how high can you guys rev till it feels like it stops pulling.

Thanks a lot guys, i'm really leaning towards this cam and going with the PRC spring kit.

I also have an f14. Plenty of power w/o giving up in drivability. I would recommend it to any one and futural has great customer service.

The car does not feel like it lost anything below 2500 just drives like stock. I pull till 6800 rpms to give me better shift points the curve starts to drop off after 6500 which is peak power.
