Default Which Amsoil to run?

I'm changin to Amsoil next oil change and i was wondering which one to use? Which one do u run?

I was thinkin this one would be a good choice......
(AMO) SAE 10W-40 Synthetic High Performance Motor Oil

But i remember seein some of u used the european formula...
(AFL) European Car Formula Synthetic 5W-40 Motor Oil

And i'm gonna be changin the tranny fluid soon...so would changin to amsoil be a good idea? or should i just stick with whatever the stock GM stuff is?

I run the Series 2000 0W-30 in the winter, then change to the Euro 5W-40 in the spring/summer.

Hey man..i usually run GC, but this past oil change i tried the European formula 5w40..my motor def. seems to be a little quieter, but it could be due to the fact that the weather is a little warmer now. My car seems to hold great oil pressure with the 5w40 also. Do any of you have a UOA with this oil? i'd be interested to see how it performs compared to GC.

The 5w40 is the best match for the LS1.

Yes, the European 5w40 is definitely the best choice for the LS1 out of the Amsoil lineup.

My car had 92,000 miles on it when I bought it. I did the heads, cam, timing chain, etc., but left the short block alone. I wanted to run Mobil1, because that is what I have always run with good success. I live in South Carolina where it never gets real cold and the Summers are consistantly mid 90s. But they did not make a 10W-40 oil. After doing some reseach, I went with the Amsoil 10W-40. I love it! Works great for me.

Do some research and draw your own conclusions. There is a lot of good oil out there today. I believe Amsoil and Mobil1 are at the top of the list. just depends on what you need.

I know you live in a much colder climate than me, but you still feel that the Series 2000 0W-30 is too thin for an LS1 in the winter?? (I have 85K on the engine.)

It's actually not very cold here in Toronto. This winter it has rarely gone below 15F, and not once has it even come close to 0F.

Anyhow, sorry to get off track.

For the winter, the Amsoil 0w30 would be good since you won't see high oil temps very often, but they recently reformulated it and it's a bit thinner than it used to be. So for summer use their 5w40 is still the better choice, especially if you drive it hard and get the oil temps higher.

I run 5w-30.

Look at the numbers on the Amsoil site and choose for yourself.
