Default Front main seal install?

My front main seal blew out on Saturday, can I install a new one without taking the front cover off? Thanks

Doubtful.

Would be all sorts of problems just getting the old one off.
Much safer to remove the cover and do it right.

All of it.
Wow.

I guess if you can easily slide it onto the cover over the crank and make sure it is pressed into the cover well...should be okay.
