Default Help me pick a cam

Alright guys its time for me to buy a cam. What would be something good for what i want, i want it to be driveable since i do drive this car everyday, however i dont drive it really far. but i want something that makes good power throughout the RPM range, im kinda afraid of having to spin the cam up really high since i have 118,500 miles on the motor, and i need it to last this season. Also i want something thats gonna sound rowdy as hell at idle. So if anyone has any recomendations i would really appreciate it, also if you can give me specs on the cam that would be awesome guys.
Thanks
JacobK

224/224 would be a good size, not too big, but not too small, good amount of lope, but not overkill.

the cheatR cam from thunder racing might be a good choice also, not a big cam but you will notice the difference, and its the same powerband as stock, that what I plan on using for my daily driver

If you want nitrous along with your other requirements, I would suggest either the GM hotcam or a 224/228 .581/.588 112lsa.

The reason I throw in the hotcam is because it fits your "rowdy" requirement, is a split duration for nitrous, and would not be too hard on your valvetrain (given your mileage).

no im not going to use nitorus..Also im not too worried about driving it, cause i am going to be getting a daily driver soon so thats not a problem..i just want a cam that i wont really have any problems driving, is what i meant to say. Im thinking the HPE "S" cam on a 113lsa. or possibly the TSP 231/237 wahtcha think

A split would only really matter in the event that you were going to spray the thing to make retarded amounts of power.

the cam spins at half the speed of the crank.

224/228 - splits also help broaden the powerband. maybe on a cam that small with only 4* separation it wouldn't be too noticeable, but nonetheless.

i'm trying to work up a larger duration cam with 8* separation for a n/a motor, i think it will work well. scavenging is increased with a wide split..

Try to stay on the 228 -234 duration range . here r some good choices:-

* 228/232 on a 112 lsa
*F13 , F11
*G5X2
*thunderracing 230/236 .
*thunderracing 231/234 .
*MTI R1 , 232/236
*TSP Torquer 2 .

You really can't go wrong dude. If you follow prostock_bigblock's advice, the spread on those cams is probably no more than 20rwhp.

Just pull the trigger.
