when i said LS1 swap in my friends garage... i ment in a carport infront of his garage... you cant actually fit a car inside his place... lol.

so I pulled the manifold, pr's and rockers of already and thank God they are ok.
However, both rocker trays snapped in between the first and second rockers. part # 12552203. Is there a reason they both broke?

Maybe the vbration could have done it.. who knows, you had a uncommon situation happen, so uncommon parts are gonna have a problem, like teh lifter tray.. Replace them for safety, and they start the whole process, cleaning the bolt holes really good, compressor with a air nozzle and ruber hose works very well for this.. did for me anyway. I'd think about putting ARP studs in , simply because if for some reason you ahve to take it apart again, you won't have ot replace the bolts again, they are reusable.

Rocker stands broke huh? That's weird. What kinda of heads are they? If they are ETP's/AFR's/Darts or some other new casting other than stock LS1/LS6 I would ensure the stand is sitting 100% flush on the head. I've heard of problems with some of the heads with the rocker stands. If you have stock ported heads I would check those as well but I doubt they are the problem Weird. Anyways, part numbers for the head bolt kit and rocker stands are correct. Never seen that part number for the heads but GM parts direct says 02-04 vettes which that head would work for you as well so I see no problems there. You'll have her going in no time now.

It's a must do to take it apart and do it again. You've got crap all over the gasket surface, antifreeze in the cylinders and oil, oil in the antifreeze and you're wondering if that's OK? Even if it held for a while, how much would you trust it?
I didnt read but a few post down so i dunno if anyone said this or not but take them back off because you could have gotten coolant into the bolt holes. that will cause a lot of problems.. good luck ...
I took of the driver side head today and cleaned it off. I will be getting to the other one hopefully tomorrow.
As far as ARP Studs go, I already ordered the stock bolts and have heard that ARP Studs are not a must for my setup.
I will keep you guys posted and keep the advice coming. Thanks a lot
