Default Help, Oil dipstick keeps popping out

Well everytime I open my hood I notice the dipstick isn't completely pushed down. Do I have a serious LS1 problem or can this be easily fixed? I've pushed the stick back down while running and it doesn't seem to pop off but everytime I open the hood again it is loose. Any insight would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Jeremy

Inoperative pcv or blowby from a bad/broken ring could cause that. Won't happen bad at idle, but will at higher rpm. Pop off the oil fill cap and rev motor. If blowby pours out of the fill hole...

I just had the same problem and it turned out to be that my dipstick was missing the rubber o-ring. Check for that and then do a compression and a leakdown check. If the compression and a leakdown check turns out OK then it's definately the PCV system.

Thanks,

Man I hope it isn't a ring or anything, I'll have to check it out. I'm not home to look at the car but I'll keep my fingers crossed for hopefully only the o ring. Also would a valve cover breather fix this problem at all?

If the PCV system is failing it would also blow the dipstick out.

I hate the pcv system, put a filter on it and do away with it !
