Default UGH! Another Cam question

I was pretty much diehard set of the MS3 cam. Now, after talking to Speed Inc about the installation, they may have talked me out of it. They're suggesting their homebrewed 224. My current specs....

Full hooker exhaust/ORY
Lid
4.10s out back (12 Bolt Moser)
Spec Stage IV clutch

I don't care about sound. Just want power. Not TOOOOOO concerned about driveability. It's a daily driver, but I've driven cars that were deamed "unstreetable" daily. I know, there's tons of threads on this already, and sorry for being a ***** and making a new one. But would like to get some dyno graphs of a 224 vs MS3 specs on a stock head.

Also, keep in mind, an LS6 intake is coming as well as heads by the end of this season....

One last thing....they are offering what I think is a pretty damned good deal on THEIR cam setups. 1398 or something to that affect for cam, install, and tune. Don't know how close that would be to buying an MS3 or F15 and having them install/tune. Plan on doing this as soon as they can book me garage time...

dude...a 224 is very small compared to an ms3.

i think the most you'd see out of a 224 is 385 rwhp. i think you'd see at least 400 rwhp out of the ms3. perhaps you should try a larger SI cam...si5 or 6.

224/224 (112 i presume) vs 237/242 (113..) isn't a very good comparison.

Cool...appreciate the response. Is there a comparable cam on www.ls1speed.com to the MS3? Sounds like I'll save myself some money by using one of their cams....

Also, peak HP isn't what I'm looking for....I also want a good power band with less off the line (I can't get the car to hook in a dig as it is)

i mentioned a couple in the above post. you might try the si6, it is smaller than the ms3, but would have a nice poewrband, mostly mid-range/high rpm. or just have speed inc custom grind a cam to similar specs of the ms3? it's really that easy, man..

You already have the gears, put a good size cam in it since you are not to worried about driveability and you will be happy. I seriously think you would be disappointed with a 224 if you are even considering the MS3. These cams are on totally different levels, as stated above earlier.

Hands down the MS3 will outperform the 224 cam. There are plenty of people that daily drive the MS3 without any problems in either M6 or A4 cars, maybe we'll have some feedback from members who do daily drive this cam in their car and their experiences on how it performs etc.... IF you are going for power like you stated in your original post, there is no way you can go wrong with the MS3. It is one of the most popular cams and the most consistant as well. Feel free to pm me for pricing on some of our cam packages and I can answer any questions you have concerning the setup you are looking for with your car.

Do a search on the MS3 and look at some of the results/feedback/experience some members have had with this cam, its one thing for a specific shop to tell you how a certain part will perform but information gained by experience and results of individuals speaks volumes for certain products!

That is similar to a G5x2, it will do well.
But do yourself a favor and put at least 7.425 p-rods in there. It will keep things a litlle quieter.

How about with having an aggressive clutch? Will it be dying out every light? Or surging really bad?

the clutch won't have any bearing on whether or not it dies at lights or surges, that is all tune-related.
