2001 Chevy 6.0L performance ?
I have a 2001 6.0L fuel injected chevy motor and have about 70,000 miles on it. it has cast iron heads and block. i was told to put the ls6 aluminum heads on it and a cam to get some good hp out of it. This motor is going in a longtravel sandrail that weighs 2300lbs and will have a 5sp trany. My question is with having a stock motor at 345hp would the stock ls6 aluminum head work and which cam should i put in it? is there anything else i should do for this motor? not looking to put a ton of money in this motor just want to know which parts to put in it to give it alittle more grunt without a huge lope. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
also what is this motor worth if i choose to sell it and just buy an Ls1

first I believe the 6.0 with iron heads was 1999 only maybe some 2000 not sure?
I also think the 345 hp you refer to is on the newer Denali and Escalade the truck ones were less especially with the iron heads.
the ls6 heads will raise your compression that would help performance but it might make it too high, the light rail you have might work great since you dont have a lot of weight to move around.
check out the performance truck section of this board there is alot more info on these on that site.

We have a couple of customers who do sand rails. The most common head they use on their 6.0 builds, are our LS6 style 2.05"/1.60"/68cc heads. Give us a call or send us a PM and we can dicuss your options.
