Default Valve train noise

I just had my MS3 Cam installed by a mechanic here in town, the car sounds awsome! My question is, Is it normal for the valve train to be tapping pretty loud? I did have the springs and push rods swapped out with the double springs and harden push rods. When I'm driving, it runs pretty smooth other than the tapping noise. At idle the tapping tends to go away. Is it tapping because of the new springs? or will it stop through time? Keep in mind this is the first time it's been cranked and driven since cam install.

it sounds like a sewing macine correct??

more valve chatter after a valve train swap is normal.

The answer to your question is "Yes!" These engines are noisy to begin with. Add a big cam and it's a virtual mechanical symphony of clickity clacking going on.

I drove the car last night and it started tapping again and it did the usual by getting louder so I brought it home and turned it off, waited about 15 minutes and cranked it up and no tapping. I let it idle for a little bit and still no tapping. It only seems to happen when I'm driving, but the car drives smooth and excellerate fine, no vibrations or rough idle even with the loud tapping.

I bet you have 7.40 pushrods, right??
Try putting 7.425's and you'll cure most of your tapping.

lol i just had the ms3 installed 3 weeks ago and mine is doing the same thing and i have the 7.40 pushrods. The shop told me that the pushrods are barley to short and he has orderd me longer ones but there on backorder right now he said it was ok to drive the car like that just not to really get on it to be on the safe side, so ive been keeping it under 3 grand for 3 weeks now but i will update yall when i get the pushrods swaped out later

why doesnt TSP sell 7.425's with that cam? sounds like a few people have run into this problem. You spend the money, shouldnt you get the right parts that work properly?
