I have a 98 Z28 and when I am at WOT in 3rd I start getting some massive knock retard around 3500 RPM's! I have been told by a buddy that the 98's were programmed super sensitive? I am wondering if I have a problem or should I get the sensors reprogrammed?

I also have a 98.Make sure your exhaust is not banging and your spare tire and jack are fastened. Also with ls1 edit you can take out knock sensors.

How much KR are you getting? I have basically given up on trying to remove the 4 degrees I get at WOT. I have gone throught the hassle of replacing the knock sensors, runnning 100 octane gas, getting wide-band measurements, etc etc in hopes of identifying a cause.

Where did you buy the Voodoo cam?

I don't know how much timing I am losing. I can feel it and hear it though! Sounds like I am slamming into the rev limiter just at 3500 RPM's! I am assuming that is the knock retard? The rev limiter is set to around 6K. I witnessed that feeling when I was about a quart low on tranny fluid and started slipping like a maddog and the rpm's shot through the roof for a split sec!!

98's are notorious for overzealous knock sensors, there should be an update for them, you basically get the 99+ ones. try it, just might solve your problem
