Question Milling heads?

Say i want to mill stock heads. What is to prevent the intake (ls6 or anything else) from not lining up with the intake ports properly?

From what i can tell the intake sits on top of the flat area of the motor between the heads if you shorten the heads wouldn't that lower the alignment?

If the heads are milled, I'd suggest grinding the little brass tabs off the intake, so that they are not going to stop the intake from sitting as low as it can. I was curious about this issue myself, but after installing a set of milled heads on my car, there was no problem.

I milled my heads .040 and the intake fit no problem.

Interesting... I wonder if the ports on the intake are bigger than the intake ports on the heads allowing some room for vertical play without having to worry about an eclipse'ing effect.
