Default head and cam prob.

After installing my heads and cam set-up I am experiencing a problem where the car revs up and idles back down slower than I think it should. The car just seems to have a sluggish throttle response.
I installed a set of 98 style stage 2 ported heads that have 2.02 and 1.6 valves with comp 918 springs and tit. retainers. The heads were also milled 30 thousands. The cam I went with was a 226/226 with 581 lift. I kept the stock length pushrods with this set-up.
I have been around carb engines for some time and just expected the throttle response of my ls1 to be close to the carb set-ups.
I wasn't for sure if this was just a tunning problem or if it was something else.

Thanks for the help,
Adam

After a swap like that you want to have a dyno tune done. Also some one might chime in on this but with the milled heads you might want to run a 7.35 push rod.

Yes a tune will definatly help you out. Depending on the LSA of the new cam, usually depends on how well your car will run on a stock tune. I have a 114 LSA cam, and mine idles perfect.....even without a tune.

The cam is a 112 LSA. It idles ok, but it is the revving and the way that it goes back down to idle that makes me wonder if something is wrong.
I just read a post about a guy that had to long of push rods also. At the time of the install I had done some searching on here and guys had been running the same lenght pushrods, but now I guess people are seeing that the different length pushrods should be used.
I am planning on getting a tune here in the next week or two. So I guess I will see what happens after that.
Thanks for the help so far guys.

Ask your tuner about "idle crack".
