Thunder racing makes two different 230 cams...

230/224 .575/.563 111 LSA and
230/236 .592/.602 112 LSA

what is the difference between the two? i see more people running the first one and the bottom one looks more aggressive. Also the top is "reverse split," what does that mean?

reverse split means the intake duration (230) is longer than the exhaust duration (224). It holds the intake valve open longer.

Generally, and I am not an expert, reverse split cams will make more power and torque under the curve and peak a little sooner. The basic thought is a longer intake stroke, with the exhaust stroke opening later. When your exhaust flows well you can take more advantage of the power stroke by opening the exhaust valve later.

Basically if you are more restrictive on the intake side (LS1 intake, stock TB, or LS6 intake, ported TB) versus your exhuast side(LT, ORY, Cutout, or True Duals). I would think it would not be as advantageous if you go with well flowing heads and a 90/90 setup.

We have a reverse split MTI X1 on our stalled A4, and put down 385/386 on stock heads, with a LS6 intake/Ported TB/LT/ORY...

that makes sense... i think my exhaust side will be flowing better then my intake, maybe i'll just go with the 230/236. i just confuses me that i havent seen one person on these boards run the 230/236 except my installer

Well technically you would benefit more from a reverse split if your exhaust is flowing "better" than your intake. Although if you plan on heads and intake then your traditional split would suit you better.

Shoot there have been some amazing numbers put down by the TSP Torquer V.2 lately... I would almost consider changing to that as well (we have milled ABS Stage II 5.7 heads in the wings)...
