Default Trying to get good low end power and torque

Well i've got someone really interested in buying my S10 project truck, only thing is they don't want the motor since they've got there own. I've started thinking about putting the LS1 in my '84 K5 Blazer because the 305 is about to let loose with 180K miles. The only thing im slightly worried about is my Blazer weighs about 6400 lbs and i tow with it, not to mention it has 33x12.50's and 3.73's. I was wondering if it would make a decent change if i swapped out the stock LS1 cam with a 6.0 truck cam to get the torque curve lower for pulling hills without being in the rpms too much. I also offroad the truck a pretty good bit and i often find myself crawling a little so i need the most available power at low rpms as possible.

Im just wondering if it would be worth it to try this since i already have the engine, or would i be better off trying to sell or trade for a cast 6.0 truck engine. Im keeping the engine management harness i have for the LS1 with a 98 ECU, so swapping to a 6.0 would take a little wiring work. I really haven't been able to find a "RV" or similar high torque cam for the gen III motors that would be able to produce higher torque figures at the same or lower rpm than stock cams do and keep a flat torque curve. This is pretty much why im limiting my selection to a 5.3/6.0 cam....although if anyone knows of a better one i could use im open to suggestions. For all i know the stock LS1 would work fine, but the peak torque is a little high in my opinion for a 4x4 with towing duties.

I've even thought about just selling the LS1 outright with the harness and just buying a turnkey '97-up 5.7 Vortec...just trying to figure out what would be my best route.

truck cam will be an improvement, but I'd go custom and gain more torque
