Default Scotch Bright ok to remove head gasket material?

Just wondering if using scotch bright will mess up the block surface or anything. I'm planning on using it along with alcohol to clean up then a vacuum.

I used some really fine grit san paper, worked wonders faster then the scotch bight was working. You just need to be careful. Had it all clean in about 30 min.

I think it was 370 grit? i'll post up some pics when I get home.

Scotch bright and denatured alcohol (it evaporates). Vacuum cylinders and other areas well afterwards.

I used 400 grit sandpaper and it worked great. Smooth as glass.

Bodyman's medium length long board and some 400 grit wet/dry paper using WD 40 as the cutting lubricant....of course this is after you get the bulky stuff off assuming a composite was used prior. This method actually shows high and low spots and is more preferred IMO. Might alert you to a low spot in the deck of the block which might have ruined your day at some point in the future...

I used green Scotch-Brite, wrapped around a straight edge, and soaked with laquer thinner. Looks like brand-new............
