you'll find the casting number below the rear of the driver's side head at the back of the block.

Hi,

The engine is at the dealership....I think they are sick of me showing up to see what's going on I don't think I really want to go back again

I was wondering what could be made of the engine suffix code of ZFA. I'm basically wondering if it's going to be a 345 HP (2000 and older) or a 350 HP (2001 or newer) motor.

Thanks,

Mike

I couldn't find anything on ZFA?? At least if you know the casting number you would know if it was a 2001 or newer LS6 block

Hi,

I called the dealership parts department and they said that ZFA is from an "original" 2003 Corvette.

Yet it doesn't match the codes from the

I thought the ls6 block was actually slightly weaker than the regular ls1 block. It has some type of provisions for better oiling or cooling in some place...im not sure...but in turn more metal is taken out making it slighlty weaker.
I thought the only advantage to the 01 and up short block is the better rod bolts...which could easily be swapped out. oh well..you already made the purchase. But having an ls6 block or ls1 block doesnt really matter. If it is an 03 motor then the head bolts should be the same.

Maybe I am crazy but that is what I remember reading on here a while back.
