Default LS1 lifter tray orientation

Putting in my Morel's tomorrow morning, is there an orientation to the lifter tray? It appears there is on the LS2 trays, but the LS1 looks like it does't matter which way it goes in.

Just want to verify before doing something stupid

No difference in the LS1 trays. I have an old set I checked. They are identical except for the random number stamped on the bottom.

Yep, ls1 trays are symmetrical. And it dosnt matter what direction the lifter oiling hole faces if you were gonna ask that next

I think I remember soneone saying they drilled a hole to help the flow of returning oil in the trays? Does anyone know if that is a real bennificail mod and the location of the hole if it is an good thing to do.

This will help you if you race the car. Prolonged high rpm driving can empty an oil pan. Drilling holes in the lifter trays makes sure the oil drains back down into the pan quickly. I cant see more than a pint of oil getting caught up there, but in a high G roadrace, every little bit helps. I didnt bother drilling mine since its a street car.

I would assume that a hole in the bottom of the tray between the two lifters would be the proper location for the hole...
