Default Breaking point?

At what point with bolt-ons and then going internal engine mods do you start to run into problems?

The type of problems im talking about are constant re-tuning, fluids leaking, vavles or springs breaking, etc.. stuff that might put he car out of action for a few days.

From seeing the blown engines and people having to tear their engines down to re-build or so on, I'm just curious as to where someone should stop, to try and avoid the least amount of problems..

Stop at a cam upgrade? stop at heads? or stick to bolt-ons and avoid internal mods?

Granted some folks are gearheaded enough to be able to tackle the problems that arise and thus it isnt as much of a scare and thus ultimately worth the rick for the power.

With 6 speeds, I know the stock rear on hard lauinches can be a shady thing to rely on But I guess im thinking more of probems witht he engine and internals.

As it sits now I feel pretty comfortable wtht he bolt-ons I have in.
I want to go with heads I think to get the power I want, but Im worried that it might lead to more problems than I could afford to deal with.

thanks

It will only lead to problems if you let it. Do and do it right the first time and don't half-*** any aspect of it. Sure the rear end wont take a fully stock car off the showroom floor. You will overall be happy with heads and cam. The "breaking" that you are speaking of should be re-phrased into "wear and tear". The springs will only live so long on a mild-wild cam. Your lifters might start showing some signs of wear over a long period of time as well.

So to answer your question....sky is the limit. Do as much as you feel comfortable doing. You just have to be level headed with where you are wanting to go with this build-up. It all really comes down to: You gotta pay to play!

If you have any other questions about what cam/heads combo to get or what would work best with your current set of bolt-ons....Don't hesitate to ask. The only question you don't ask is the dumb one.
Happy modding.

All The Probs You Speak Of Sound Like Problems You Would Have From A Crappy Install Or A Mismatched Combo

The Only One Of Those Things That Could Be Considered "normal" I Guess Might Be The Vavlespring Change And Thats Probally Only Gonna Be Every 20,ooo Miles With Any Streetablwe Cam At Worst

Then Again There Are People That Botch Things Up And Always Have Problems... As A Word Of Advise Dont Expeects Everything To Work Out Right Away Bacause Now And Then Theres Gonna Be Hangups (part Of The Learning Curve) But If You Dont Rush **** You Should Be Alright My Car Is A Agressive H\c Car Makeing Approxamtely 525-550 Bhp And It Has No Probs Hell I've Been Buliding The Car For 4.5 Yrs Now And Raceing It Too And The Only Thing Ive Broke Is The Rear Axle (nittos)
