Default oil?

why is it that some people run 7 quarts of oil in a stock fbody pan? is that strickly for road racing?

If you race your car GM recommends adding another quart.

Most people run 6-6.5 qt's.

so what if I just put in 6 quarts instead of 5.5?

Would this hurt anything on a daily driver?

I am not running the larger oil filter.
