Default Ordering custom cam..need help quickly

Hey guys i decided im going to be ordering a custom ground 231/237 .595/.605 on a 112 LSA. My question is do i have to get some advance ground into the cam? I see all these cars with like 112+4 or whatever. What exactyly does that do and do i need to get it ground into my cam? thanks alot

The LSA is degrees of separation between the exhaust and intake lobes, the +4 or +2 you see on cam specs in the degrees the intake lobe is advanced. So 112 LSA +4 means the intake lobe is centered on 108 which will give you an intake valve closure 4 degrees sooner than if the cam was ordered w/o advance. The earlier closure will aid in adding low and mid range torque because it will raise your dynamic compression ratio and drop your peak hp rpm a little.

If you are dead set on this cam and a 112 LSA, then I would order it +3 or +4 and take advantage of the mid range torque. Even with the +4, your intake valve will close late enough to allow you to carry power 6500rpm or so.

I learned SO much from that thread. I have it bookmarked and go back and reread it like it was my favorite novel. It really helped when I just went and ordered my custom grind last week. I had similar goals in mind. It's worth the read.
