Burned a hole in #7 WTF???

A friend and I went to the drag races Saturday, our runs weren't great but OK. My buddy stopped short of the stacking lanes on return arter the third run and said he was getting blue /white exhaust smoke.

To make a long story short, he pulled the drivers side head today and # 7 piston has a hole through it. Am I correct that # 7 in HIpo engines have a potential lean problem that can wipe out the piston??? We really need some intelligent responses. This poor guys engine is trashed and we need some answers.

I remember reading a post on it. All I can remember is that due to the intake, of which type I am not sure, cylinder #7 gets the most air and it tends to run the hotest due to cooling issues. I think people who run their engines on the ragged edge try to put an injector that flows a "little more" into that cylinder. They just flow check 'em and pick the one with the highest flow for the #7.
