Default ?s about the 5.3.

How far could you bore the LS4, and still be safe? And isn't all or most of the LS? motors the same except the bores?

Thanks.

According to the book "Chevy ls1/ls6 V-8's" the 4.8/5.3L block can "easily be bored to the 3.893 inch (5.7l bore)". The 6.0L block is pretty much at the max for bore size: 101.6 mm (sorry for meteric and standard measurements)

Note: All the LSx motors use the same stroke crank except for the 4.8L engine that has the 96mm bore like the 5.3 but has a storter stroke crank. The 5.7 ls1 has a 99mm bore, as i have read in this book.

This isn't true. The LS4 is an aluminum block. The 4.8L/5.3L truck versions are cast iron. The aluminum engines have the same boring limitations as the LS1, LS6 or LS2.

101.6mm = 4 inches
