Porting Stock Heads
Due to my lower budget (thanks to school) I can't really spend all the money that I want to on mods right now. Once the spring gets here hopefully I will be throwing a cam in my car and I would like to do a little headwork as well. I know that there are some of you out there that port/polish your own heads at home and don't do a valve job. Here's my question, when I go to a machine shop, what do I need to ask for to get a port/polish job like done at home only in a little more professional manner. Whenever you tell them that you wanna get your heads ported/polished they always want you to do the valvejob as well and I can't really afford that right now. If I could, I would be better off buying new heads because the machine shop would charge around $700 just to do the work to stock heads.
This is what I plan on having, do you guys think that 400 RWHP is achieveable with this?
Comp- XE-R 228/232 .588/.595 110LSA +2 on 108 ICL
LS6 Intake
Ported/polished stock heads
Ported/polished throttle body
Pacesetter Longtubes
True duals w/ x-pipe
MTI Lid
....along with a good tune. What do you think? Can I get to 400?
