Detonation, STOCK CAR!???
Detonation, STOCK CAR!??? Ok so i bought my first ls1 WHOO HOO 
but its still detonating even after i replaced the knock sensor i was told to replace (told me it wasnt retarded timing because they were faulty)
so i replaced em....still got the knock
Im guessing its running lean, so i need to know how many possibilites it has to go wrong
fuel filter im doing tomorrow
after that i have no clue
any advice to diagnose it would be great
2002 ws6 m6 32k miles with no SES light at all runs 100% fine without
punching it

I have a 2002 ws6 a4 with 34000 on it and it does it every now and then . I can tell you that it is your gas "you have to use premium fuel 93" . All I use is 93 and it still does it from time to time . I think that I am just getting bad gas from the store. For me when it does do it it's at about 4800 to 6000 rpm. Is that when it's doing it with your car?
i pulled the intake manifold when i did the knock sensors and the runners looked normal ( little greasy looking ) but i wanted to put a catch can in it anyways. anyone reccomend a good cheap catch can?
What exactly are your symptoms of detonation?
audible knock?
knock on scan?
spots on sparkplugs?
Are all the sparkplugs the same?
detonation on all cylinders or just one?
Have you tried raising the octane to see if the knock goes away?

its audible knock, i havent been able to pull the plugs yet and i dont really have a place to rais the octane at, the race track isnt open right now
