Im thinking of going back to a PCV since my car is a daily driver and I want to extend my oil life. I dont want to have oil in my intake either though. Ive been looking into the ls6 pcv lately, and Im wondering how easy it would be to make your own. Now I know the LS6 valley cover is only like 65 bucks or so, but I like doing unique stuff myself. Im thinking I could just use some fittings JB welded through the stock valleycover, then have a vertically mounted PCV, then loop back around for the intake. My concern is what's within the valley cover. I need some sort of an oil seperator. Looking at autozone there were a couple of oil seperators with what looked like cotton elements. They might work. I was also thinking about a simple plastic box with a couple pinholes drilled through to keep most of the splashing oil from getting in the pcv intake. Maybe even a layer or two of screen might keep the oil from getting sucked up the pcv intake. Anyone got any ideas? I dont want to just leave off where the fitting just sticks through the valley cover.
at the very least, you need a baffle in front of the opening.
The ls6 valley cover has a nice long, sloped "tunnel" hanging under it. Screened opening, with a long ramp up to the pcv pipe.
There is probably not a whole lot of oil splashing around in the valley, not like in the top of the heads anyway.
Whatever you use should be something that can't come loose (i.e. screen) and get down around the cam.
