Default 01/02 ls6 block or not

How can u tell if your car had the ls6 block or the other one for that year since there was only a few made.

Casting number on the block pad at the back of the drivers side, numbers are 12561168 for the LS6.

Enough to make looking for one worth your time and effort. The casting had a few design improvements over the LS1 casting...most notably, oiling passages, and the cast-in bay-to-bay "windows" in the bottom end.

they also were more quite than ls1 blocks (that ticking and piston slap noise when cold)
