catch can question
well, I know this is the wrong section, yet this thread has been around for a while, and I know if you want good tech answers this is the best place to go, so here goes.

any comments good or bad, I would like some good info here, thanks guys. I am kind of stopped in the middle of the install, as I just want to be sure the end result is what it is supposed to be.

from reading your post, you have a breather on the catch can? well, its basically causing a big vacumn leak after the TB. its sucking in extra air thats not getting metered. I hope that helps you out. Definatly plug that breather hole and you'll notice a difference.

The catch can with breathers cap, it is for venting the back pressure in the engine block and venting it out the valve covers or vented catch can,and then plug the PVC & vacumn line,For the PVC you will need a sealed catch can to prevent very bad vacumn leak ,and no vent cap on the valve covers.
Well, I got a good solution to anyone that wants to use this can.

let me know what you guys think. I should have the bracket fabbed up tonight, and the full install done by weeks end.

I used to use two catchcans on my Honda. One of them was that Jaz catchcan. The setup worked great. Before running the catchcan setup, oil would literally run out of my intake runners when I pulled the manifold. I also had detonation issues. After installing the catchcans my intakes runners were bone dry and shiny. Detonation was also gone. The only bad thing about the Jaz can was the lack of baffling inside it. Without baffles, the oil vapors would just vent right out through the little filter on top. This made the surrounding area in the engine compartment very oily. The only thing ever collected in the catchcan was moisture with a hint of fuel smell. The other catchcan I had was a Moroso can that had baffling inside. This one actually collected oil but it still vented some oily vapors through the filter on top.
One setup that some guys ran was the Moroso can with a PCV valve on top in place of the filter. One line ran from the crankcase to the catchcan. On top of the catchcan was a PCV valve inside of a rubber grommet. From the PCV valve you would run a line to the airbox. This accomplished a couple of things. Negative crankcase pressure for better ring sealing and less blowby and emissions compliance since the PCV valve isn't eliminated. The airbox sucking on the PCV valve works in place of an expensive vacuum pump.
